Karcement Project
expansion of production

With the acute shortage of cement in Kazakhstan, the Company is embarking on an expansion program, which, when completed shall increase the supply of cement to the market by another 2.1 million tons a year. Together with the present 800,000 tons from our wet lines, the total will be 2.9 million tons from our plant in Aktau Village, in Karaganda Region.

We have completed our Line 6 refurbishment project with the total cost of USD 63 million in October 2008 and the plant has started its commercial production since March 2009. Currently, minor adaptation is still going on for the process line and with the total completion Line 6, we would be able to produced an additional 900,000 tons of cement to the market. We shall then again be the only manufacturer having dry process technological line in the country.

We are very confident that the dry process line would be able to produce a better quality clinker and much more environmental friendly.

As for the Line 5 project, we have decided to defer it until the economy improves. As 95% of all equipment is at site, re-starting Line 5 project would be quicker.
