STATEMENT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
|
- We shall respect the environment and its surroundings that provide the resources for our business activities. This means, we must not only comply with the regulations, but also conduct our businesses, consistent with sustainable development principles. At the same time, we must take into account the views and opinions of all our stakeholders.
- We are committed to the protection of the environment, health and well-beings of our employees, to mitigate climate change, and to the conservation of nature.
- Our objective is to ensure the continuing improvement of our environmental performance. We would use energy and natural resources more efficiently, minimize the production of waste materials, harmful air emissions, and water discharges, while seeking ways to preserve heritage, landscape and biological diversity
- The Company is conscious of the problems associated with the emission of dust particles from the wet lines kilns and cement mills. It is envisaged by the end of mid 2006 the emissions can be reduced to an optimal level by additional investment on the air abatement equipment.
- The Company is pleased to inform that the proposed refurbishment of the line 5 & 6 will conform to the stringent environmental standards, as replacements will be made to the old equipment. We are confident that with these investments, we would be able to meet with most of the standards set on dust, sulphur and nitrogen oxide emissions.
